Why can’t you accomplish that thing that you want to accomplish? What is holding you back? What is stopping you from becoming your very best version of you? What is keeping you from doing the thing that you always wanted to do; the thing you know that is going to make you the person you have always wanted to be. I ask you again, what is stopping you? What is holding you back?
If I were to take a guess, I would say you are. Many times we get in our own way of progress because we are scared. We are held back by fear, by the thought that we aren’t good enough or we are held back by our environment. I have personally been held back by all three. If someone would have told me just a few years ago that my life would be the way it is right now, I would not have believed them because I didn’t believe I deserved it. I did not believe that I deserved to be successful without apology. I did not believe that I deserved to be happy every single day and that I deserved to enjoy every single step of my journey to reach my dreams. It wasn’t until I changed my belief; until I got out of my own way and until I began to take the steps to be my very best version of me, that my life truly began to change.
What are you going to do get out of your own way? What steps are you going to take to finally become your best you? How much longer are you going to wait for things around you to happen before you make the necessary changes in your life? Those are the real questions you have to ask yourself. Even if you have no clue about the “what”, spend more time thinking about the “why”. Why must this change happen? Why must you take action to make your dreams your reality? And why must it happen today? If you can understand, appreciate and support your why, then you will be so driven to action that the what will immediately follow.
Below is what I call the six “Its” to mapping out an action plan to accomplish your goals:
In order for us to something we have never done or push ourselves to limits we have never known, we cannot be afraid to dream. Dream about the possibilities even if we can’t see a clear cut path to make that dream a reality. Dreaming means to see things not as they are but as you wish for them to be.
Many times we have dreams and goals that do not become realities because we hold back for fear of giving life to it. An amazing tool that works with making our dreams and visions a reality is to not just speak them, but to identify a person that has an invested interest in you, speak that dream or goal to that person and allow them to hold you accountable for making those goals your reality.
Most people require some type of visual stimulation in order to truly carry out a plan. The awesome thing about the world we live in today is that it is live and in living color. We have the ability to see our dreams and goals in various ways to stimulate us. My favorite is a vision board, often times referred to as a dream board. This can be done physically with a few materials such as magazine clippings, printed quotes and pictures that represent your vision. This can also be done digitally on various outlets and apps.
Now it is time to reflect on the steps you have taken so far to make that dream your own. I like to say, once you put that dream or goal out in the open, you have now given birth to it and it is your job to own and see it all the way through. So how do you that?
You have to plan it. Make clear actions steps to truly reach that goal. A fairly simple but extremely effective way to do that is to use what is called a SMART goal approach. Once you have laid out your plans, it is now time for the most rewarding part….
Get it Done, Make it Happen!!!
You have laid out your ground work, you have taken the brave step in speaking your dream, visualizing it, owning it and carefully planning it. Now it is time to boldly walk into the directions of your dreams. It is time to live on purpose and be successful without apology.
I dare you to dream big, set goals, take action and be amazing on purpose!!!
My goal is to take the time to focus on another "ROSE" in need and seek ways to bless, support and encourage her through her current challenges.
